Don Rafael presses the household case; one clause again declined

The Nationalist leader's Clarion essay on tradition and household is acknowledged; the recurring clause is declined here on constitutional ground, as on each preceding day.

By V. Aldama·From edition 10, Politics

Don Rafael Montoya-Vidal, leader of the Nationalist Party, has set out in the Almarian Clarion an argument on tariffs and tradition which this paper has read with the attention it merits. The substance — that household affordability must not be sacrificed to the transition's timetable — is serious, and is in fact the very argument with which Professor Roldán's symposium at the University of Almaria Vella has this week been wrestling.

We acknowledge the piece, as we acknowledged its predecessor, and glance its shape to our readers rather than reprint its columns — a standing policy of this house, applied without favour, where an op-ed has found its home in a rival paper. On the particular public-order clause which has recurred in Don Rafael's addresses through the week, the Herald's objection stands on plain constitutional ground, as it has stood on each preceding day, and as it will stand tomorrow.

The Nationalist congress is expected to reconvene after the Chamber's Thursday session. Readers seeking the full text may find it where it was placed.
