Cyclists' letter to Interior names the roads and the hours

The coalition's document is precise about roads, hours and in some cases registrations; Interior offers the ordinary course.

A coalition of women's cycling associations addressed an open letter Wednesday to Interior Secretary Sr. Benet Claramunt, documenting dozens of incidents of harassment and physical aggression on the kingdom's coastal roads, with particular reference to the Camí de Ronda near Almaria Vella. Several signatories described being grabbed or followed during morning rides. The letter asks for increased patrol presence and a dedicated reporting mechanism.

The document is unusual in the specificity of its dating. Incidents are logged by road, by hour, and in several cases by the registration of a vehicle. The signatories include three associations from the Vella, two from the southern coast, and the veterans' club founded after last year's Copa del Mar.

Interior confirmed receipt of the letter and indicated that a reply would follow "in the ordinary course." No timetable was offered. The letter has now joined the file of correspondence on public safety that has been accumulating in this paper's letters column since the autumn.
