FC Cordoba clinched the Almarian Primera on Wednesday evening with a two-nil victory over Almaria Vella Athletic, the most consequential Clàssic d'Almaria in a decade by the reckoning of the sporting press. Supporters filled the Plaça de la Constitució through the night; fireworks were visible from the hilltop of Sant Bertomeu.
Club president Mireia Solà dedicated the trophy to Jacint Valls, the founder, whose memorial plaque was unveiled at the stadium earlier this season. The dedication was brief and was made from the centre circle, after the cup had been raised.
The Vella Athletic supporters left the ground in good order. The trains north ran late but ran. The Monday papers will carry the league table; this one carries the night.
